Logan International Airport is found in the state of Massachusetts, in the United States of America, and in the East Boston neighbourhood. This American airport, with the IATA code of BOS, is regarded as the nineteenth busiest in the country, with passenger traffic of around 28 million per annum. Passengers arriving at the airport can choose to travel to Boston by bus, train or taxi, or they can even rent a car from one of the Logan International Airport car hire companies. The airport of Boston has four large terminal buildings, which are all equipped with baggage reclaim areas, ticketing counters and ground transport facilities. The car hire companies of the airport have many different car categories, but only Thrifty has the very special one from where customers can receive a Compact or larger vehicle, yet only pay for Compact vehicle rates. This is the Wild Card category, and if selected, the staff members at your rental location will choose your vehicle upon your arrival. Although you don’t know which type of vehicle you will be driving, it is guaranteed to be great value for money. You could receive an SUV for the price of a Compact car! The vehicle will, however, have at least five seatbelts, and room for an item or two of luggage. Vehicles that are also very good value for money are found in the Economy and Compact categories, and may be similar to the Chevrolet Aveo and Ford Focus. They are ideal city cars, although driving in the centre of Boston is not usually recommended. There are a number of one-ways to navigate, and sometimes the streets are closed for the city’s famous ‘Big Dig’. Rather use your rented car to travel the outer areas of the city, and for travel to nearby towns and cities.
Further vehicle categories available include Midsize, Standard, Fullsize, Premium, Luxury, SUV, Minivan, Van and Standard Convertible. The first few categories contain vehicles similar to the Dodge Avenger, Ford Fusion, Ford Taurus, Ford Crown Victoria and the Buick Lacrosse, while SUVs are similar to the Ford Escape, Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, Chevrolet Traverse and Chevrolet Suburban. The last mentioned is large enough for seven passengers. Thrifty’s Minivans are also able to seat seven people, while the Ford E350 is larger, able to accommodate up to twelve passengers. Minivans are similar to the Dodge Caravan.
Thrifty Logan International Airport allows online car rental reservations, which are preferable for lower rental rates. Along with an online reservation, customers may choose to hire a child seat and/or a satellite navigation system. Vehicles can also be arranged as a Thrifty one way hire, which is a convenient service for customers who will not be returning to Logan Airport. One way hires may have additional charges, and a few extra dollars will be paid for equipment hired as well. Free of charge, however, are Thrifty hand controls for disabled drivers. This device is used by persons with a lower limb disability, as it operates the brake and accelerator pedals of an automatic vehicle. From Logan Airport, hand controls should be reserved in advance.
To hire a car from this airport location, the primary renter and all additional drivers registered on the rental agreement should be at least 21 years of age. All drivers should be present to collect the vehicle, as Thrifty will need to see their valid driving licenses. US-issued licenses are accepted, as well as Canadian-endorsed licenses, but foreign renters may require additional documents, such as a passport and a return airline ticket. An International Driving Permit is required from certain countries as well. The primary renter will need to present one of the major credit cards in his/her name at the start of the rental, and a hold of the estimated rental charges will be placed on the account, however, a debit card can usually be used for the final payment of the vehicle.
